Engineering excellence: At the European Hyperloop Week in Zurich in July 2024, many dedicated teams showcased their visions for the future of mobility using transport capsules. Our Pro-Tent folding tents were there throughout the event. After all, wherever engineers are unleashing their full potential, our own showpiece of Swiss engineering simply had to be there. We supported this promising event as a Gold Partner—and, of course, attended it as well.
What is European Hyperloop Week?
European Hyperloop Week is an annual event dedicated entirely to Hyperloop technology—a promising form of transportation. During the event, student teams present their prototypes to a jury, which awards prizes in various categories and selects an overall winner.
This year’s European Hyperloop Week took place in Zurich from July 15–21, 2024. In cooperation with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich), a total of over 25 teams competed; the coveted “Complete System Award Winner” prize was secured by the UPV HYPERLOOP team, narrowly ahead of MU-ZERO HYPERLOOP and SWISSLOOP.
Hyperloop Technology Explained Simply
Hyperloop is a modern form of transportation technology that, in the long term, could replace short- and medium-haul flights. It involves vacuum-based transport. In this type of high-speed travel, small capsules—known as pods—move through magnetic fields inside a tube that is largely airless. This enables fast, energy-efficient, and carbon-neutral travel.
The concept was first introduced by Elon Musk in 2013. Since then, engineers around the world have been working on ways to make this vision a reality. Their shared goal: to offer a fast, comfortable, and sustainable alternative for travel.
